Organic black cohosh root, or organic Cimicifuga racemosa, is a tall plant and an herb in the true sense—growing perennially above the ground with a stem that is not woody. However, it is not the upper herbaceous part of the plant, but the organic cohosh root and underground rhizomes or stems that are used medicinally.
Organic black cohosh root is widely used as a popular alternative hormone treatment for women. Historically, North American Indian women harvested the organic cohosh root for treating menstrual and menopausal symptoms. The root is thought to improve blood flow circulation to the pelvic area, as well as improving circulation throughout the whole body.
